Zinc Plated Cat Ladder for Roof Access: HDG Performance

Our zinc plated cat ladders are fabricated from Q235B carbon steel and finished with hot-dip galvanizing to ISO 1461 at 85–100 µm. The zinc coating protects cut edges, welds and bolt threads by sacrificial action — even if the surface is scratched, the exposed steel stays protected. It is the most economical corrosion finish for exterior roof access ladders exposed to rain, humidity and light chemical atmospheres. Specifying the wrong material for the atmosphere shows up as coating failure within the first inspection cycle.

  • Sacrificial zinc protection

85–100 µm HDG per ISO 1461; scratches and cut edges self-protect

  • Economical for roof access

Lower cost per metre of climb than stainless — ideal for roof and parapet routes

  • Full traceability

MTC 3.1 certificate certifies the HDG steel batch to EN 10204 3.1

Zinc Plated Cat Ladder FAQ

What is a zinc plated cat ladder?
A roof access ladder fabricated from Q235B carbon steel with an economical hot-dip galvanized (HDG) zinc finish of 85–100 µm to ISO 1461. The zinc coating protects the steel by sacrificial action, making it the standard choice for exterior roof access in industrial and commercial buildings.
How long does the galvanized coating last?
Hot-dip zinc at 85–100 µm gives decades of protection in typical roof environments. Because the zinc corrodes sacrificially, small scratches and cut edges remain protected. For marine or aggressive chemical exposure we recommend SS304/SS316 stainless instead.
Do zinc plated cat ladders come with compliance documents?
Yes — every order ships with a Declaration of Conformity to OSHA 1910.23/28, BS 4211 and EN ISO 14122-4, an MTC 3.1 material certificate and engineer-signed structural calculation sheets, all free of charge.
What is the lead time and pricing for a zinc plated cat ladder?
We respond with an itemized factory-direct quote within 24 hours. Production runs 15–25 working days. A galvanized zinc plated cat ladder with safety cage complete is quoted per configuration, factory-direct ex-works — far below US catalog prices for the equivalent unit.
Can we order a non-standard climb height?
Custom heights are engineered to order — single runs up to 25 m, with rest platforms above that and knock-down sections for container shipping. The drawing review is free within the 24-hour quote, so your exact climb height is confirmed before production.
Can we get spare rungs or brackets later?
Yes — spare rungs, brackets and gates are available through the accessory parts range, hot-dip galvanized to match the ladder so the zinc finish stays uniform. Parts ship with your next container or as a separate LCL shipment, quoted per load plan.
How does a zinc plated ladder handle rain and humidity?
Hot-dip zinc at 85–100 µm to ISO 1461 is the most economical corrosion finish for exterior roof access exposed to rain, humidity and light chemical atmospheres. The zinc corrodes sacrificially, so small scratches and cut edges keep protecting the Q235B steel underneath.
When should we upgrade from zinc plated to another material?
Zinc plated HDG is the right economy for exterior roof routes. Upgrade to SS316 stainless where chlorides, salt spray or chemical wash-down would attack the coating, to aluminium where weight is limited, or to GRP where the route must stay non-conductive near live equipment.
