Vertical Cat Ladder

A vertical cat ladder is a fixed vertical access ladder mounted on wall standoff brackets, with a safety cage applied from 2.2 m and rest platforms on climbs over 25 m. We build each one from standard modules so the configuration — caged, with platform, with walkway and gate — is matched to your climb height and the standard you work to. Non-compliant access can void insurance cover and trigger regulator citations after any incident.

Caged Vertical Ladder

Hot-dip galvanized or SS304/SS316 safety cage starting at 2.2 m above base, hoops at Φ700 mm with bar pitch to EN ISO 14122-4 — fixed to the ladder stiles, no on-site drilling.

With Landing Platform

Slatted steel rest platforms on climbs beyond 25 m, spacing per your governing standard, with a full landing platform and guardrails where the vertical cat ladder changes direction or meets the roof edge.

With Walkway & Gate

Self-closing landing gate at the ladder-to-roof transition plus walkway handrails that carry the route to hatches, plant or parapet walls — drilled to the same module spacing.

Wall Standoff Brackets

Laser-cut 6 mm brackets at 150, 200 or 250 mm offsets, fixed at ≤1500 mm centres. Grade-matched to the stiles so hole centres always line up on site.

Sections & Extension

Each vertical cat ladder ships in sections up to 25 m long; taller climbs are split with rest platforms. Couplers and SS304 bolt kits included with every module.

When does a vertical cat ladder need a safety cage?
Under OSHA 1910.28(b)(9), fixed ladders over 24 ft (7.3 m) require a ladder safety system or personal fall arrest on new installations (in force since 19 November 2018); cages and wells are acceptable on existing ladders only until 18 November 2036. EN ISO 14122-4 applies fall protection from 3 m. Our cages start the first hoop at 2.2 m above the base at Φ700 mm internal diameter. For climbs over 25 m the vertical cat ladder is split with rest platforms at the required intervals. A landing gate and walkway handrails are added where the ladder meets the roof edge.
Can I add a cage or platform to an existing vertical cat ladder?
