Do I need a safety cage on a parapet cat ladder?
Under OSHA 1910.28(b)(9), fixed ladders over 24 ft (7.3 m) require a ladder safety system or personal fall arrest on new installations (in force since 19 November 2018); cages and wells are acceptable on existing ladders only until 18 November 2036. EN ISO 14122-4 requires fall protection above 3 m. We add the safety cage, gate or rail option to your parapet cat ladder so the whole climb stays compliant.
